I’m no tombstone salesperson, but if I were, I’d shake things up.
Every grave has a saying on it, like “Loving husband,” “Loving mother,” or “R.I.P." I’m not sure what that last one means, but it seems too short for me!
Why not expand on the engravings? This would a) remind friends and family about your true spirit; and b) make those who didn’t know you do a double take then wonder, “I wish I knew that person.”
Need an example? All you need to do is imagine you’re in a graveyard, passing headstones, then BLAM! you see this:
"I tried!”
“Wasting away in Margaritaville!”
“Should’ve called The General. Would’ve saved some time, and perhaps, their life.”
“No relation”
“Best friend to all. Except Steve. Steve is a dick.”
“Self-published”
“Left it all out on the field… The field of life.”
“Ask me about low interest rates!”
“Salt Life”
“Never thought I’d be here!”
“Sponsored by Draft Kings”
“BRB TTYL G2G”
“Out of office. Indefinitely.”
“Not again!” (or as pictured above: “Whoops!”)
“Agist”
“Try to book me for jury duty, now!”
“Hog wild”
“Check out my podcast.”
“Escaped prison, but couldn’t escape death.”
“Finally”
